Museum has specimens of this goby from
the northern Marshall Islands, Minami Tori
Shima (Marcus Island), Pitcairn Group,
Austral Islands, and Tonga Islands.
*Ptereleotris heteroptera (Bleeker, 1855)
Observed by Chave in 8 m while SCUBA
diving off the east camera-stand "islet." We are
not certain of this identification. A specimen
or photograph should be obtained to confirm
the record.

Balistes buniva Lacepede, as reported by
Smith and Swain 1883. Very abundant at
Johnston (Figure 54).
