Numerous individuals observed by the
authors and others from Makati'i at depths of
60 to 186m. Also observed by Randall and
Lobel while diving with SCUBA in outer reef
areas at depths of 18 to 22 m.
Xanthichthys auromarginatus (Bennett, 1831)
Metichthys ringens (non Osbeck) Halstead
and Bunker, 1954. This triggerfish was ob-
served, videotaped, and photographed by the
authors and others from M akali'i in the depth
range of 85 to 147 ill (Figure 55). Observed by
Randall and Lobel while SCUBA diving out-
side the reef in 22 m. The genus was revised by
Randall, Matsuura, and Zama (1978).
